To create accurate shop drawings it is extremely important to take accurate field dimensions. Element uses a system of crossing laser lines (X and Y axis on the floor and benchmark for heights) in each room which all dimensions for the room are taken from. These lines are transferred from the laser and permanently marked in the room in order for the installers to reference back to once product arrives on site.  We find the benefits of intersecting control lines to be:

  • Assist with Framing Plans
  • Highly accurate locations for outlets, switches, lighting, AV equipment, plumbing and HVAC vents
  • Multiple finish trades can use one set of reference lines in order to assure that each trade is working from the same set of numbers
  • Allows conflicts to be seen in the design process before they become a problem on site and cause schedule delays due to rebuilding or adjusting existing work

We like to get in the project as early as possible in order to assist with as many trades as possible. This allows for better coordination between the rough trades and the finish trades and will lead to less changes along the way. Give Element a call to schedule us to take field dimensions for you today.
